Physical - Mechanical and Chemical laboratory of TEXTILE
The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of TEXTILE is covering the laboratories sessions in the courses of “ Fibrous Materials “, “ Textile Metrology “, “Yarn Structure”, “Structure of Smooth Textiles”, “Knitting”, “Spinning” etc.
The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of TEXTILE serves also to the searching - scientific activities of the pedagogues of the Department as well as to independent works of the students of the Textile branch of the Mechanical Faculty.
The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of TEXTILE is certified since May 1996 from the Directorate of Standardization and Quality for the Quality control of the textile products. Thus, it serves as the Quality control’s center of the Textile products in Albania. It is the first certificate laboratory for the Quality control in the Polytechnic University’s history.
The staff of The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of TEXTILE is certificate from the Directorate of Standardization and Quality and it consists of three members:

The Physical - Mechanical and Chemical Laboratory of TEXTILE offers quality testing in:
- row textile materials
- semi-products and products
- woven and knitted fabrics and garments
The quality tests are described in detailed at the Quality Handbook of The Physical - Mechanical and Chemical Laboratory of TEXTILE.
The Laboratory is equipped with modern apparatus useful for didactic and scientific aims. The equipment has been continuously updated.
Physical - Mechanical laboratory of TEXTILE Carpets/Upholstery
The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of Textile has been created since 2001. The laboratory serves in the courses of the “Structure of smooth textiles” and "Quality Assessment".
The tests and quality control of the rugs and upholstery can be performed in this laboratory.
The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of Textile Floor Coverings is the only one in Albania and very useful to the needs of the industry and production because, of the traditional Albanian manufacturing that successfully continues.
The Physical - Mechanical Laboratory of Textile is playing an important role in the implementation the European standards (EN) and international standards (ISO) in the field of the floor coverings.
Atelier of Design and Modeling
The Atelier of Design and Modeling is at the beginning phase of its activity and includes a pilot line for garment production and a computer network for garment using software aided design (CAD/CAM). The atelier assists designing and modeling in the field of garment production, weaving and knitting, and upholstery.
The Atelier of Design and Modeling is a laboratory in service of the subjects in the field of garment construction, modeling and design, technology of garment production, garment quality assessment, optimization of the sewing parameters and in general to the orientation Fashion and Garment of the Master system of studies.
This atelier offers services in the field of design, optimization of the raw materials for garments enterprises in Albania.
It serves also to a wide network of small and medium enterprises for garment production in Albania through modeling with computer software and optimization.
The atelier is a center of the preparation and education of the new designers. The staff members of the atelier are increasing their capacity in design and software use through their individual work and also through different opportunities of trainings in country and outside.
Laboratory of Textiles and Garment Production
The Laboratory of Textile Production includes two technological lines for garments’ production with industrial sewing and cutting machines, weaving horizontal and vertical frames for crafts works.
The Laboratory of Textile Production serves for the practice works of the students for the textile and fashion branch, independent works of students in the subjects “Technology of Garment Construction and Production”, “Garment Design” and “Industrial Design”.
Laboratory is established in a similar space with the industrial one and it is the only one in the Polytechnic University of Tirana.
This laboratory is unique in the faculty and is a place where the students and lecturers can promote their creativity, their initial skills in production, management and quality control.
