Why "Textile and Fashion Enginnering"?

Fashion has become a special industry and production is managed by specialised companies. After the 90s Albania in general is a garment consumer of ready-made products or using garment products from the working companies in country.
Specifically fashion industry is well related to the garment production industry but not only to this. The relationship of fashion and stylisation industry with the textile industry is particular too. It is obvious and meaningful that for designation purposes deep knowledge on textile, knitting, finishing and dyeing processes are required. Engineering education in the textile sector will be assisting the future designation specialist to conclude with the right choices. A technologist engineer should also have the proper knowledge on textile stylisation and designation so that the fashion products could get concretely materialized.
There is no experience on the Albanian university system in “fashion” or “fashion design” level. Generally such oriented schools stay apart from engineering branches, polytechnic universities as much as architecture branch stays. Anyway, we find examples of textile engineering study courses orientations to the garment and fashion industry in the polytechnic universities as well.
A concrete example is Textile Engineering at the Polytechnic of Torino. In the 2000 the garment and fashion became part of the engineering course oriented to the chemical industry of textiles and wool fibers processing.
Since the academic year 1994 – 1995 subjects such as: Textile Marketing”; “Garment Modelling” and about 20 diploma thesis within this profile are included in the textile engineering at PUT. The increasing interest of students for subjects of this study course, the structure of the labour market in Albania for Textile Engineers and the representation through a correct offered course in textile engineering makes necessary to entitle the diploma as “bachelor” In the submitted program some of the subjects are included in the same way like in the European curricula for textile engineer graduation and those for fashion or fashion design curricula.
